UTSC National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women #utscremembers

  • This event has passed.

November 28, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

On December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is commemorated in Canada. In 1989, 14 Engineering students of l’École Polytechnique de Montreal were targeted and murdered because they were women. This year marks the 30th anniversary of this tragic event. Every year, the UTSC community comes together to honour these 14 women, and to raise awareness of gender-based violence through various events.

This year, we are creating wellness kits as tangible support items. From October 25, 2019, to November 26, 2019, we are asking the UTSC community to participate in a donation drive to support women in need in Scarborough. Donation boxes will be available across campus and in the Sexual Violence Prevention and Support Centre (EV141). A list of acceptable donations can be found below and on the event website.
